My name is ego Don't mess with me, no I'll trash your libido Kill your wanting seed And if you fight me I'll visit you nightly Twist you up so tightly Make you kick and scream My name is denial I've got you on file Behind your wan smile Is a cry of pain Your innocent victim I'm the one that hit him I slashed and I bit him Justifies my game My name is illusion I know it's confusing Please accept my conclusion You're all insane The things that drive you You love to be lied to Love the chains that bind you Build your own cage My name is savior I'm a pimp and a slaver I'm a prime time raver It's a point of faith I've got the answer I can cure cancer I'm a wealth enhancer In the end of days My name is ego Remember me, Joe? I might be the John Doe That rules the world My name is ego What a cool scene, no? What a wonderful fellow What a beautiful girl

River in the western sky Birds of North America Russet flank and amber eye Birds of North America Many seek and many die Birds of North America Falling through the liquid night Birds of North America Nestled in Arcadia Birds of North America Winter in Antarctica Birds of North America Slaughtered in suburbia Birds of North America Verging on hysteria Birds of North America Fading points against the sky Edge of dawn, morning light Touch the earth, rest a while Glass and steel invisible Birds of North America Barrier against the pull Birds of North America Every day a haven gone Birds of North America No other way but carry on Birds of North America

Louise 03:05
Pounding down the gravel road escaping through the fields laughing in the dappled sun beneath the summer trees We were only kids back then far from what we'd become never thought that we could be anything but young But somehow when I held you and looked into your eyes I knew that these would always be the best days of our lives Chorus: Oh, Louise, I was so naive didn't know a first love couldn't last oh, Louise, tell me please do you ever think of it like that? Stars were so much brighter then the world was ours to keep secrets of a young girl's heart were such a mystery If there’s anything I know Of stars and hearts at peace it all began one summer when you showed them to me Chorus

Want One Now 03:33
Fifty-eight days Only cheated a few times It’s out of my blood But still on my mind I don’t want pills Don’t stick that thing on me I’m fiercely independent Cure my own disease I get that smell in my nose And that taste in my mouth Only one way to get it out CHORUS: I want one now, give it to me (3X) Right now ____ All I wanna do Is burn a few Help a brother out Can I get one from you? It’s better than any food You ever ate It’s better than sex Unless the sex is great I get that smell in my nose And that taste in my mouth Only one way to get it out CHORUS I feel so satisfied Feel so satisfied Yeah I feel so satisfied Somebody give me a light

It’s mentioned in fiction Of the most lurid kind In old Delta moans And curious rhyme Might happen when you’re old Or cut you down in your prime It stalks like a wildcat Biding its time Each of turns one day To face mortality We all sing the death rattle blues Eventually The reaper appears In various disguises Bearing gifts, colored trinkets And little surprises Unbidden it comes Like a stranger at the door With something to sell We all want something more So call on your savior Pray for resurrection No exchange or return When it’s time for collection See that mound where I buried a skunk That died under the shed? We’ve all got it coming When you’re dead, man, you’re dead Each of us turns one day To face mortality We all sing the death rattle blues Eventually Any of us could be Minutes from death But why should I worry I’ve got hours, myself Each of us turns one day To face mortality We all sing the death rattle blues Eventually INST

Hope 03:02
My father did with two bad knees A worn out back and heart disease His only comfort was his cigarettes But he gave them up for his health for his health…what else? Someone found him in his bed at home Just went to sleep and never woke up He was lucky, that way I swear there’s hope for all of us Go down fast, don’t make a fuss Check out in the middle of the night I don’t want to die in a nursing home Out of my head and all alone When the time comes I hope I have the courage to end my own life A gun or a rope or a length of hose A friend with a pillow or an overdose Please don’t put machines on me Because I don’t believe in a heavenly reward No man in the sky that I call lord Just the sun and the moon and the stars and you and me My darling girl and my faithful wife The friends I’ve known throughout my life My family, eternally I swear there’s hope for all of us Go down fast, don’t make a fuss Check out in the middle of the night I swear there’s hope

Bakery 05:00
I’m so sad and lonely, lying on my bed So I went to the bakery to get a loaf of bread I bought a cheese Danish, cookies and a pie But I forget the bread, so I went to bed, I’d lost my appetite You never had much appetite, as far as I could see If there’s anything you wanted, it sure wasn’t me Your bottles and your substances were your priority The only time I felt alright was at the bakery Once I had a girlfriend, she worked in the bakery Used to get a lot of tips and day-old bread for free But she met a guy from Tuxedo Park with a big Victorian house Guess I couldn’t blame her, she took her apron and moved out That day-old bread was all we ever had, half the time You squandered all my money and you wasted all my time All I had by the time I left was my apron and my clothes You sold all my jewelry and snuffed it up your nose I saw your friend with the pumpkin head, sneakin’ ‘round my gate Tell your spy eat shit and die, and please just go away Maybe I’m just a country girl and my heart is made of gold But I’m warning you, we’re done, we’re through, and I’m good with a .38 I checked my email all day long but no one wrote to me So I turned on the radio, tape player and TV Then I got a boom box and I played my own CD I took it in the bedroom and I sang along with me (and I was singing-) And ever since that day it’s just me living here If anybody asks me I’ll say that I don’t care You don’t care because you never knew what you had I don’t need your platitudes, I’m gone and I’m glad But there’s a reason why I lie in bed all weekend long Haven’t had a cherry pie, since that gal’s been gone.

Seeds 03:18
Sky is clear and the sun is out The earth is moist and warm Still got a lot of work to do Down on animal farm First thing you need is fertile ground Next you look for rain All good things, in their time Hope the neighbors don’t complain Help us tend these seeds we sow Seek the light and grow, grow Grow, grow, grow Back in the day, talked about a change Sang a change is gonna come Today the Great White North is headed south Old Ma Nature on the run Her daughter, high water, you love her, we bought her Wipe the old slate clean Polar Bear, bad year, no fear, all clear See what’s on TV Sky is clear and the sun is out The earth is moist and warm Still got a lot of work to do Down on animal farm Living in a hovel, diggin’ on a shovel Watch the tall weeds grow Like to share with everyone here But there’s so much I don’t know

Babble 03:27
I met the Whore of Babylon At the Tower of Babel And after the obvious We played a little Scrabble She said these words are confusing me I said wait a while and see When the tower’s done we’ll touch the sun And write our names on it That’s the way it begins Talking like you know something When you don’t know anything We get so impatient an annoyed When we can’t hear the sound Of our own voice And every sniveling mendicant From the ditchdigger to the president Folds his hands and sighs Some great truth to impart In the washed-out bars at closing time On CNN and prime time live The puppets dance and whine Even the bravest warriors Grow weary of the battle Lay down their arms Every defeat is a victory When you laugh in the face of adversity The winners write the history And that’s what we believe So I left the whore of Babylon Climbing the tower of Babel The workers were jumping off They were packing up their scaffolds They said, man, we're getting out of town This whole damn thing is coming down You don’t want to be here When wrecking ball comes round

Eyes Right 03:45
Eyes right Speak when you're spoken to Eyes front Do what you're told to do Eyes left Never your own choice, never your own choice to make So this guy joins the army he's tired of being poor He's got no money, no job no house, no car, no hope, no life He lives with his mother his father and his brother his baby and his wife He's got a skull tattoo that says born to lose and a hungry feeling at night So this guy joins the army he doesn't know what else to be he gets a signing bonus an apartment in Kansas and he gets to drive the Humvee This is my weapon, this is my gun, this is for killing, this is for fun So this guy in the army he's in the best shape of his life he's got self-respect, a will to live and a reason to fight So this guy in the army statistic, a casualty the man with the flag called him a hero but he looks like a victim to me This guy in the army they sent him home in a box they think they found all the pieces but probably not

This is the end of the road This is as far as I go This is the end of the road This is as far as I go And I hate to be the one to say goodbye Hate to be the one to say I never tried Blind as ice, bold as day Bad as pain, cold as clay Nails of iron, bed of straw House of cards, rule of law Two white horses in a field Blood across the alter where I kneel Break of day, misty gold Pack it in it’s time to roll And I hate to be the one to say goodbye Hate to be the one to say I never tried And I hate to be the one to say goodbye Hate to be the one to say I never tried This is the end of the road This is as far as I go This is the end of the road This is as far as I go This is the end of the road
